An Art Party is a great party when there will be children of a various ages. The young children can fingerpaint and play with clay. The older children can draw, paint, and sculpt.
An Art Party can be held at home (preferably in the yard or gargage!), at a park, or at a children's museum.
Fun Invitations
Make the invitations in the shape of a easel or artist's pallette. Attach a box of crayons or a paint set.
Ask guests to wear clothes they can get messy or provide "smocks" made out of white plastic garbage bags (cut neck and arm holes and tie ribbon around waist) or old shirts.
Fun Decorations
Make a large handpainted birthday mural (you paint Happy 1st Birthday Amanda in big letters) and guest add their artwork. Add brightly colored balloons and streamers.
Fun Games & Activities
Provide clay, fingerpaint, rubber stamps, and sidewalk chalk for guests to "create" with. Paint with water books are fun and not as messy as real paints. The paint is already printed on the page and the guest simply paints over it with water to reveal the color.
Have an artistic friend do facepainting or apply temporary tattoos. Take Polariod pictures of guests with their face art. Fill a pull string pinata with art supplies (crayons, chalk, small paint sets).
Fun Foods
Serve cheese and crackers, seedless grapes (quartered) and strawberries. For dessert allow guests to decorate their own cupcakes or sugar cookies with icing and assorted sprinkles or make an artist pallet cake.
Fun Favors
Give guests a favor bag with an assortment of thick crayons, colored pencils, or markers, finger paints, and some stickers.
